The RC (UK) Immediate Life Support (ILS) course is the most popular ILS course in the UK with over 100,000 students undertaking it every year. This course is tried, tested and trusted for a number of different reasons. Firstly, RC (UK)’s ILS can only be delivered by a healthcare professional who has been ‘hand-picked’ to undergo RC (UK)’s arduous generic instructor course. This means that the quality of the training you will receive is second-to-none and offers complete reassurance that you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to keep your patients safe.
As well as unrivalled quality, the resus council ILS course is written and updated by industry-leading experts who collectively act as the chief authority on all resuscitation matters within the UK and often provide guidance to organisations such as Public Health England, the Health and Safety Executive, the GDC, GMC, NMC, HCPC and many more. The fact that you are getting information ‘at source’ means that you can trust that it is current, correct and capable of helping you achieve both legal and professional compliance within your own area of practice.
Lastly, as this is deemed the ILS course of choice for so many healthcare professionals, it could mean that if you decide to undertake a lower quality, unrecognised and unregulated course that you might not be as competent as your other RC (UK) ILS certified colleagues. This can create an ‘unstandardised’ level of resuscitation care throughout your workplace and has been strongly evidenced to increase the risk of making costly mistakes that can ruin your clinical reputation, remove you from professional registers and in extreme cases…result in medico-legal litigation and prosecution.
Upon completion of your booking, you will be emailed an activation link where you can enrol onto the course and begin completing your pre-course e-learning modules. They can be accessed via any laptop or PC that operates Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Bing, Internet Explorer or Yahoo. As well as this, they can be accessed via any smart phone, iPad or tablet as long as you have an internet connection.
You must complete all of your e-learning modules before the face-to-face element of your eILS course.
The e-learning modules aim to replace 3 guided learning hours from the traditional ILS course and so it should take no more than 3 hours to complete.
Every student participating in training will be screened prior to being allowed into the venue. Screening precautions will include answering a number of simple questions in line with the latest Public Health England advice along with having their temperatures taken. As well as this, all students will be issued with a disposable face mask as well as gloves, aprons and visors if required. Alcohol sanitiser is available throughout the venue as are hand washing facilities. Students will be asked to scan an NHS test and trace barcode upon their arrival as well as leave an email address in order to be contactable if they should be advised to self-isolate.
All training materials such as stationary, notebooks, textbooks, hand-outs and aides are all provided upon your arrival. In terms of attire, please wear comfortable clothing, practical footwear and limit the wearing of excessive jewellery.
If you anticipate that you have any learning difficulties/language barriers that have the potential to disadvantage you from achieving this eILS qualification, please inform us at the earliest available opportunity so that we are able to make reasonable adjustments for you. These can include extended time for examinations, a scribe to help you complete paperwork or an increase in guided learning hours (GLH). As well as this, we are able to offer coloured paper, overlays and rulers for dyslexic students in addition to personalised 1-2-1 support packages if required. We are also, with reasonable notice, able to provide examinations and supporting material in different languages for ESL students with language barriers.
Water, tea, coffee and biscuits are provided for each student; however, we are unable to provide lunch and so you will need to make your own lunch arrangements. We do have a kitchenette on site that contains a fridge, kettle, microwave and sink that can be used as well as local amenities such as McDonalds, Greggs, Starbucks and Esso that are within walking distance.
If you are unsuccessful in passing one of your assessments you will, in the first instance, be provided with detailed feedback from your assessor as to why the relevant assessment criteria were not met on this occasion. You will then receive a support plan with actionable steps to be taken that will enable you to prepare for a reassessment at a later date. Resits are offered to our students completely free of charge as per our MTS Passport peace of mind guarantee.
